Today’s Manicure Monday is a part of a special series we’re doing with FOAM Magazine! For the next couple of weeks we’re going to be featuring a different O’Neill Girl from our team and a nail trend she’s into!
What we love about this Feather Light manicure is the unique look you are able to achieve with just a couple simple supplies and steps. Since no two feathers are exactly the same you will always have a new unique outcome. Learn how to do this Feather Light manicure yourself by following the steps below and be sure to check out more info on Cedar, our Director of Marketing in FOAM Magazines exclusive blog.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
-Orly Bonder Basecoat (optional)
-Rustic Orange nail polish
-Bag of feathers (you can buy at craft store)
-Wood nail stick w/flat edge or Tweezers
-Nail clippers or small scissors
-Clear coat nail polish
HOW-TO DO IT YOURSELF:
Step 1: Prep the area. Select a handful of feathers that you think have the most vibrant patterns and keep them in an easy to reach spot. Start off by applying the Orly Bonder as your basecoat to all your nails (this will prevent nail color from chipping or wearing off). Let dry for a couple minutes.
Step 2: You will be working on one nail at a time for this step. Paint your first nail with the Rustic Orange nail polish and quickly and carefully place a single feather on top of the wet polish before it drys. We found that the best technique was to place the top of the feather closest to our cuticle (leaving the stem/base of the feather hanging off of your nail). If the feather needs to be adjusted or pressed down you can use your wood nail stick tool or tweezers to help you.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 for all of the nails you wish to have feathers on.
Step 4: Apply a layer of clear coat to all of your nails that have feathers on them and let dry for about 10 minutes. It is not nessisary to apply the clear coat onto the part of the feather that exceeds your actual nail.
Step 5: After your nails have fully dried you can use a pair of nail clippers or small scissors to cut the excess amount of feather off your nails. And that’s it your done!
